VNY Opens Hangar Doors to Local Students

Do you know a young person who dreams about working in, on or around aircraft? On May 19, Van Nuys Airport (VNY) will welcome approximately 1,400 local high school students interested in exploring what careers the aviation and aerospace industries have to offer.

Hosted by VNY, Clay Lacy, Los Angeles City Councilmember Nury Martinez and the Valley Economic Alliance, the twelfth annual “The Sky’s The Limit” Aviation Career Day will feature dozens of interactive exhibits and demonstrations, as well as guided airfield bus tours. Students will also have the opportunity to view vintage, military and public service aircraft on display, and meet the pilots who fly them.

A U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet, Cirrus SR22, Cessna 182 and two North American AT-6s will be among the featured aircraft on display, as well as a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter.

There are still opportunities to participate as an event exhibitor or sponsor. For more information, please contact the event coordinator, Kori Oyler at 818.217.6553 or [email protected] .
